Born in Belgium, Erna grew up in Brussels in a bilingual family environment, on her mother’s side. As she was quickly intrigued by the everyday use of 2 languages in the home, she set about learning French on her own, using a textbook that belonged to her mother. Erna has been devouring books in Dutch and French ever since. She studied French to English and French to Dutch translation at the Marie Haps Institute in Brussels. In 1988, she began working as a freelance translator. With a passion for architecture and the arts in general, she specializes in technical translations.
